Inbox Booths at the Interior Design Show 2024

“What’s a time machine?” was the question on everyone’s mind at the Interior Design Show in Vancouver this weekend.

Our booths were a conversation starter.

This was our second year at the Interior Design Show, and while we’re one of only a couple of office furniture companies that attended the show, we wanted to share some trends we’re seeing in office design.

First, thank you to our partners, designer and architect friends, and new and long-standing clients. It was great to see you all and celebrate the future of design together. We’re on the leading edge of what’s next and are all grateful for your support and feedback.

So, let’s set the dial back (that’s a time machine joke) and start exploring. You’ll have to keep reading to discover what a time machine is and how it pertains to a soundproof office booth.

Biophilic design

We’re talking about living walls, indoor gardens, plants for air quality, and green outdoor spaces. Integrating natural elements into indoor environments. This aims to enhance employees’ connection to nature, which can help improve well-being and productivity.

Accessibility

Offices are adopting universal design principles to ensure that workspaces are useable by everyone regardless of age, ability, or disability. This includes ergonomic and adaptive furniture, floorless office booths, wayfinding and digital accessibility, mental health and neurodiversity. We’re on the leading edge with accessible booths and available add-ons for sensory booths.

Sustainability

This was another trend we saw throughout the Interior Design Show. It’s been on our radar for years. Eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and waste reduction are all big components of sustainability. Construction is a massive contributor to environmental waste. Our soundproof office booths are a great sustainable alternative as they give our customers flexibility which reduce the need for free renovations or reconsturctions.

The Interior Design Show is a great reminder to everyone on our team that our booths have many practical use cases. We commonly get asked by the public if you can use the booths for your kids and while you can, we don’t recommend it – therapy might just be a better option.

This weekend, we were discussing many use-cases with potential clients including usage in restaurants, airports, government buildings, condo buildings, amenity rooms, libraries, schools, and homes. We’re also often asked about outdoor usage, and while this isn’t possible with our booths (yet) it’s not something we’ve ruled out going forward.

We’re actively working with amazing clients in several of these spaces already, like the Government of Canada, lululemon, Richmond Public Library, the University of British Columbia, Vancouver International Airport, and many more!

Whether you’re a designer, architect, office manager, furniture dealer, or small business owner, we can work with you to build custom booth solutions to fit your needs. Our lineup of customizations include floorless options, enhanced PET paneling, and frosted glass.

You’ve made it this far… so let me explain the time machine to you.

Think about how many times a day you might be distracted at work. This might be someone asking you a “quick question” or a noisy colleague taking calls all day, or the smell of someone warming up leftover salmon in the office microwave. These are all real examples, by the way.

If you’re focussed on a task and get interrupted or distracted, it will take you 23 minutes on average to regain focus. Multiply that over 365 days and run some other math based on yours and your employees salary and you’re left with a $12,000 cost to your business, on average.

What if you had a machine that could get you all of that time back?

Welcome to the future of productivity and focus.

We’re already looking forward to seeing you at the Interior Design Show in Toronto in January 2025.

By the way, if you want to calculate the real cost of distractions, check out our Return on Investment calculator, and get in contact with our team to discuss options for improving productivity in your office with one of our booths.
